Steps for developing a project on your property
- Eligibility Assessment: Coda Carbon and its project delivery partners will conduct a desktop feasibility assessment as well as an initial site inspection. If a project is eligible for a shelterbelt, Coda Carbon will provide a funding proposal to the landowner.
- Project Design: Thoughtful design choices to maximise carbon or agricultral outcomes. Design choices include shelterbelts or block plantings.
- Project Registration: Coda Carbon and the landowner will execute a Carbon Project Development agreement outlining roles and responsibilities for each party. Coda Carbon, or an affiliate, will then register the carbon project with the Clean Energy Regulator.
- Establishment: Upon successful registration, Coda Carbon will engage suppliers and contractors to deliver the shelterbelt planting and fund all development costs. The landowner will not be responsible for any upfront costs related to the project.
- Maintenance: The landowner and Coda Carbon will meet annually to review the progress of the tree planting project and manage any maintenance requirements. Provided the project is successful, the landowner will also receive annual lease payments or a share of ACCUs.
- Permanance: The landowner may elect for a 25 year or 100 year permanance period, meaning the carbon stock that is generated over the project issuance term must be maintained for that period.
